Sunday 3rd October saw members of Dartmoor Radio Club helping out with communications during the Abbot’s Way Walk. This event organised by Tavistock and District Outdoor Education Forum is a 23 mile self navigated walk from Buckfast Abbey to Tavistock across Dartmoor. Dartmoor Radio Club helps out by manning checkpoints and providing radio communications on the second half of the walk from Princetown through to the finish at Tavistock.
It was great to be able to get out on the moor again and help out with this event. Even though the weather did not behave itself all day, it was mostly dry !
Over 300 people walked the event this year, which is a fantastic achievement.
Looking forward to the 2022 event, this will be the Abbot’s Way Walk 60th anniversary…
